Filler Applications

Forehead Filler

Hollows and contour irregularities of the forehead are assessed together with the temples, brows and facial profile to achieve a balanced forehead contour.

Overview

Forehead filler is the application of hyaluronic acid based filler to appropriate anatomical areas in order to reduce hollows and contour irregularities of the forehead and create a more balanced forehead profile.

The shape of the forehead is influenced by bone structure, soft tissues and age-related volume changes. In some people the forehead is structurally flatter or hollow, while volume loss over time can also alter the forehead contour.

Forehead filler aims to create a softer, more balanced and natural forehead contour in harmony with the individual's facial anatomy.

How Is Forehead Filler Performed?

Before the procedure the forehead is assessed both frontally and in profile. The forehead contour, bone structure, temples and brow position are examined to determine the treatment areas and the amount of filler.

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied and left for about 15–20 minutes. Hyaluronic acid filler is then placed in the planned areas with a needle or cannula according to individual anatomy and the treatment plan.

The forehead is an anatomically delicate area containing important vascular structures. It is therefore important that the procedure is performed by a physician experienced in facial anatomy and vascular structures.

Eligibility

Who Is Forehead Filler Suitable For?

Forehead filler is particularly suitable for;

  • those with structural hollowing of the forehead,
  • those whose forehead profile appears flat or concave,
  • those with noticeable contour irregularities of the forehead,

Scope

What Can Be Achieved With Forehead Filler?

Depending on individual needs, forehead filler can achieve;

  • hollow areas of the forehead can be supported,
  • irregularities in the forehead profile can be reduced,
  • a flat or concave forehead appearance can be refined,
  • the forehead contour can be made to look softer,
  • the transition between the forehead and temples can be balanced.

The aim is not to add excessive volume to the forehead, but to create a contour in harmony with the individual's facial structure.

Distinction

Does Forehead Filler Remove Wrinkles?

Forehead filler and forehead botulinum toxin are procedures performed for different purposes.

Forehead botulinum toxin aims to reduce horizontal forehead lines caused by muscle movement. Forehead filler is mainly used to address volume deficiency, hollowing and contour irregularities.

Depending on individual needs, botulinum toxin and filler treatments may be considered separately or together.

Process

01

How Does Forehead Filler Change the Face?

The forehead is an important part of the facial profile. Marked hollowing or irregularity of the forehead can make the profile appear harsher.

With filler placed at appropriate points, the forehead contour can be softened and balanced and the transition between the forehead and temples refined.

The degree of change depends on the individual's initial forehead structure.

02

When Does Forehead Filler Settle?

The change created by the filler becomes visible after the procedure. As mild swelling or tenderness may occur in the first days, it is usually appropriate to wait 1–2 weeks to assess the final result.

03

How Long Does Forehead Filler Last?

Hyaluronic acid based forehead filler lasts approximately 1 year.

Duration varies with the properties of the product, the amount used and individual characteristics. Hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by the body over time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Forehead Filler

Forehead Filler Is Planned Individually

When planning forehead filler, not only the hollow areas but also the forehead profile, temples, brow position and overall facial proportions are assessed together.

The amount of hyaluronic acid and the injection points are determined according to individual anatomy, aiming to preserve natural facial contours.

Are forehead filler and forehead botulinum toxin the same procedure?+

No. Forehead botulinum toxin temporarily reduces muscle movement to target expression lines. Forehead filler is applied to address volume deficiency and contour irregularities of the forehead.

Can forehead filler make a flat forehead look more curved?+

In suitable candidates, supporting specific points of the forehead can make a flat or concave forehead profile appear softer and more curved. The result depends on bone structure and facial anatomy.

Does forehead filler make the face look puffy?+

The aim is not to add excess volume. When the amount and placement are planned correctly, the forehead contour is refined while natural facial proportions are preserved.

Is forehead filler painful?+

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. Brief stinging, pressure or tenderness may be felt during the procedure.

Is forehead filler risky?+

The forehead is one of the areas requiring careful application because of its vascular structures. Rare but serious vascular complications can occur with filler treatments. Correct anatomical planning and appropriate injection technique are therefore essential.

Can forehead filler be dissolved?+

Yes. Hyaluronic acid based forehead fillers can be dissolved when necessary using the enzyme hyaluronidase. The need for dissolving is assessed by the physician.

Can forehead filler be applied to men?+

Yes. Forehead filler can be applied to both women and men. However, the ideal forehead contour differs between female and male faces. In men, planning aims to preserve the masculine features created by a flatter, more defined bone structure.

Can forehead filler be performed during pregnancy?+

Filler for cosmetic purposes is not recommended during pregnancy. It is preferable to postpone the procedure until after pregnancy.
