Overview
Temple filler is the application of hyaluronic acid based filler to appropriate anatomical areas in order to support volume loss in the temples that is either structural or becomes more pronounced with age.
Age-related changes in bone, muscle and fat tissue in the temple area can make this region look more hollow. In some people, temple hollowing is a natural feature of facial anatomy from a young age.
By supporting volume loss in the temple area, the aim is a softer and more balanced transition between the forehead, temple and cheekbone.
How Is Temple Filler Performed?
Before the procedure, the temple area and overall facial proportions are assessed to determine the anatomical areas to be treated and the amount of filler.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied and left for about 15–20 minutes. Hyaluronic acid filler is then placed in the planned areas with a needle or cannula according to individual anatomy and the treatment plan.
The temple is an anatomically distinctive region containing important vascular and nerve structures. It is therefore important that the procedure is performed by a physician familiar with the anatomy of the area.
