The effect on fat tissue depends on the device technology, application mode, needle depth and energy level.
In more superficial applications the focus is on skin quality and collagen production, whereas with suitable devices and modes targeting deeper tissues radiofrequency energy can reach the subcutaneous fat and aim to reduce localised fat.
This feature can be used for contouring, particularly under the chin and in suitable body areas.
However, not every application targets fat tissue. In facial areas where fat loss is undesirable, depth and energy are selected accordingly.
